Vancouver Airport Fuel Terminal – 
Richmond, BC
Marine Fenders, Docking & Mooring and Oil Spill Response Systems

​GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by Moffatt Nichol and RAM Engineering to provide the Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems, and Oil Spill Response Systems for a new fuel delivery terminal on the Fraser River in Richmond, BC. In partnership with our selected manufacturing partners, we successfully delivered and commissioned the full suite of marine protection equipment on schedule to safely receive the first fuel vessel. In addition to providing the equipment, we successfully managed the installation of the Oil Spill Response Systems and provided equipment training for the terminal operators.

Port of Sept-Îles Petroleum Berth – Sept-Îles, QC
Marine Fender Systems and Integrated Mounting Structures 

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was engaged by the Port of Sept-Îles to design and supply marine fender systems and custom-fabricated back structures to upgrade the Port’s critical petroleum berth. The upgrades were required to safely accommodate larger marine vessels and enhance overall terminal safety and efficiency in one of Canada’s most northern and demanding marine environments. The project was schedule-driven, requiring the design, fabrication, and delivery of the new fender systems to the remote Port Sept-Îles site under an expedited timeline to ensure completion prior to a critical petroleum delivery to Northern Quebec. The upgraded marine fender systems now provide improved vessel berthing control, enhanced protection for the berth structure, and increased operational reliability for the Port’s essential petroleum operations.

Centerm Marine Terminal –

Marine Fender Systems and Specialty Mounting Hardware

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by the EPC contract, Centerm Expansion Partners JV, to design and supply the Marine Fender Systems for the new Centerm Marine Terminal in Vancouver, BC. The large fender systems consisted of 1600 x 1200 MV Leg Fenders, 6.50 x 4.25-meter steel panels, a specially designed corner fender system, mounting hardware and miscellaneous accessories. Given the size of the components, the fender systems were shipped directly to a nearby marine facility via break bulk vessel. GRIFFIN worked closely to the local Stevedores to ensure the safe offloading and final delivery of the equipment to the project site.

Woodside Oil Terminal Upgrades – 
Dartmouth, NS
Marine Fender Systems and Steel Mounting Structures

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by facility owner to manufacturer and deliver (4) 2000mm Cell Fender Systems with large, custom-designed steel mounting frames to upgrade their marine facilities and increase their berthing capacity of their oil handling terminal in Dartmouth, NS. GRIFFIN worked closely with the project consulting engineer Hatch Mott MacDonald and general contractor McNally Construction to assist with the onsite installation and commissioning of the large fender units. This was a schedule-critical project which was complete on time and on budget.

TransMountain Marine Terminal – 
Burnaby, BC
Marine Fender Systems and Docking & Mooring Systems

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems, and our manufacturing partners were selected by the Kiewit Ledcor JV (KLTP), the general contractor for the TransMountain Marine Terminal, to provide the Marine Fender Systems, Quick Release Hooks, and ancillary equipment for the new TransMountain Marine Terminal in Burnaby, BC. GRIFFIN worked in partnership with our engineering and manufacturing partners to design, fabricate, deliver and commission the various equipment. This was a schedule critical project to support TransMountain Pipeline operations, and all equipment was successfully delivered on time and within budget.

BollardScan Inspection Services – Various Locations, Canada
Non-Destructive Testing of Mooring Bollards at Commercial Ports and Marine Facilities Across Canada

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems has worked with our inspection partner BollardScan to performed Non-Destructive Testing of mooring bollards at over twenty-five (25) commercial, industrial, and government-owned marine terminals across Canada. Together, we have inspected hundreds of mooring bollards at critical marine facilities. As a result of our nation-wide inspection program, facility owners and operators have a full understanding of their safe working loads of their mooring bollards and can ensure safe mooring operations at their terminals.

Argentia Marine Terminal Upgrades – 
Port Argentia, NL
Structural Pile Repairs and Restoration

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems in partnership with Levare LLC was engaged by the Port of Argentia, and their diving contractor MDI Construction, to design, fabricate and supply Levare’s patent-pending Elevating Pile Repair System (EPRS) for the structural rehabilitation of their wharves.  We worked in partnership with a local steel fabricator to fabricate and supply over 500 meters new structural piles, the EPRS assemblies and all necessary top and bottom connection hardware. The new structural piles and EPRS systems were installed without interruption to the wharfs, allowing continued topside and vessel operations at the busy marine terminal. Once installed the structural piles and EPRS systems will have fully restored the structural capacities of the wharves and topside infrastructure at the Port of Argentia Marine Terminal.  

Ferry Terminal Upgrades – 
Saint John, NB
Marine Fender Systems and Steel Fabrications

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was awarded a contract by McNally Construction to provide the marine fenders, mooring equipment and other fabricated dock equipment to upgrade the berthing structures for Bay Ferries in Saint John, New Brunswick. GRIFFIN's scope of supply included (16) 14-meter long steel panel Cone Fender Systems, Mooring Bollards, and miscellaneous steelwork. The miscellaneous steelwork included mooring rails, torsion pipes, ladders, and steel fender stools. The oversize panels were shipped via flat racks to the Port of Halifax, trans-loaded and transported to Saint John by flat decks. All equipment was manufactured and delivered on time and within budget.

Ocean Protection Program –

Oil Spill Response Systems, Floating Oil Storage Tanks

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by Canada Coast Guard (CCG) to provide advanced Oil Skimming Systems and Floating Oil Storage Tanks under three separate contracts related to Canada’s Oceans Protection Program. The equipment was designed to ensure CCG was equipped to effectively respond to oil spill incidents in Canada’s offshore and arctic waters. Together with Lamor Corporation’s office in USA and Finland, we designed, manufactured, delivered and commissioned the most advanced oil spill response equipment available in the international market. A total of (7) Oil Skimming Systems and (220) Floating Oil Storage Tanks were successfully delivered on time and budget to response bases in Mount Pearl NL, Dartmouth NS, Quebec QC, Prescott ON, and Victoria BC.

Ferry Terminal Upgrades – 
Tobermory, ON
High-Efficiency LED Lighting Upgrades

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems in partnership with Phoenix Lighting was contracted by Owen Sound Transportation to provide new high-efficiency LED lighting systems for the Tobermory and South Baymouth ferry terminals in the Great Lakes Region of Ontario. The new high-mast LED lighting will help to increase operational safety and energy efficiencies at the two terminals. for this application, we provided our Highland Series Large Area Light Fixtures, Photocell Control Systems and all required mounting hardware. The new lighting systems were delivered on schedule for a planned terminal shutdown and installed without any lost time to the ferry operations.

IMTT Marine Terminal Upgrades – Placentia Bay, NL
Marine Fenders, Docking & Mooring Systems and Marine Monitoring Systems

​GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was engaged by Wood Group of St. John’s, NL to support critical marine infrastructure upgrades at the IMTT Marine Terminal in Placentia Bay, NL. The project involved the supply and installation support of new engineered Marine Fender Systems with custom-fabricated steel mounting spools, and Quick Release Hooks (QRHs)—all designed to enhance the terminal’s safety, efficiency, and durability under demanding marine conditions. The upgraded systems deliver improved vessel berthing control, reduced impact forces on existing infrastructure, and faster, safer mooring operations—supporting IMTT’s long-term operational reliability and safety performance.

NARL Logistics / Braya Fuels –

Marine Fenders, Fabricated Backing Structures and CCS HD Pile Wraps

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by Braya Fuels, and their engineering partner CIMA+, to supply new marine fender systems, custom fabricated backing structures and corrosion protection wraps for the NARL Logistics Marine Terminal. The upgrades were designed to enhance vessel berthing safety, improve protection for the berth infrastructure, and support the safe and reliable long-term operations of this critical petroleum terminal in Clarenville, NL. The delivery schedule was critical to meet the overall terminal rehabilitation timelines. GRIFFIN managed the complex project schedule, coordinating all aspected of engineering, production, international logistics and inland transport to successfully deliver all equipment on time and budget. 

COVE Marine Terminal – 
Dartmouth, NS
Marine Fender Systems and Custom Mooring Bollards

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by BuildNS to provide foam-filled fenders and mooring bollards to support the safe berthing operations at the new COVE Marine Terminal in Dartmouth, NS. Additional marine fenders and mooring bollards were supplied to Dexter Construction to support their COVE South Expansion Project. A total of (51) foam-filled fenders of various sizes and (13) double-bitt mooring bollards were supplied on time and within budget. All equipment was manufactured in a custom "Butterscotch" colour to meet the owner's specifications. 

​LNG Canada Marine Terminal –
Kitimat, BC
Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems and Mooring Bollards 

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by the EPC contractor, BESIX VanPile JV, to provide Quick Release Hooks, Capstans, Berthing Aid Systems, Environmental Monitoring Systems, SSL Systems, Marine Fender Systems and other ancillary equipment for the new LNG Canada Marine Terminal. GRIFFIN also supplied the Mooring Bollards for the Material Offloading Facility under a separate contract with BAM International; GRIFFIN worked with our engineering and manufacturing partners to design, supply and commission the various equipment, which will help to ensure safe vessel operations at the LNG Canada marine facilities in Kitimat, BC.

Kildair Oil Terminal Upgrades –

Marine Fender Systems and Specialty Mounting Structures

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems in partnership with select manufacturers worked with Kildair Services, and their marine consulting engineer, to design and manufacture new MCS Cell Fender Systems and custom steel mounting frames to upgrade the berthing capacity of Kildair’s oil handling terminal in Sorel-Tracy, QC.
This was a fast-tracked project due to a critical future berthing, which was completed on time and on budget. In addition, GRIFFIN provided Pneumatic Fender rentals throughout the project to enable the continued use of the berth.
